Whiteline’s Lock Kit will disable the HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Suspension) system on your 240SX. You may ask why you would want to do this, if Nissan went to all the trouble to develop this system. The reason is that when driving spiritedly on the road or hard on the track, the HICAS system can be obtrusive. The HICAS system was designed and built to stabilize the car during normal road driving. When you begin to drive faster sometimes the car may unnervingly twitch or skip from rear end at high speed when the HICAS computer decides you need help steering the car. Another unpleasant characteristic of the HICAS becomes apparent when controlling over steer. When counter steering to correct or control a slide, the rear wheels will also change angle away from the slide, sometimes flicking the car out of the slide violently, or causing an over correction. Due to this characteristic track driving can become erratic, and smooth drifts are difficult to maintain.
Whiteline’s steering rack support kit reduces compliance in the steering rack mounting and aids in reducing suspension toe angle change during hard cornering plus giving a more positive steering wheel input feedback. A hydraulic bypass fitting is included.
