ACT’s SFI certified 6-Puck Race Clutch for the Nissan 240sx friction surfaces were designed with modified, track driven cars as the target application. ACT offers a sprung 6-puck disc (G6) and a solid 6-puck disc (R6). The ACT G6 race disc has a very durable friction surface with good spline life. The G6 was designed for the highly modified car that is driven to, on, and from the track (as long as harsher engagement is acceptable). The sprung hub helps to reduce driveline shock and is relatively quiet compared to the unsprung, R6, though the G6 is still noisier than a full face disc and will have some chatter.
The reduced inertia of the ACT R6 allows for very fast shifts at the expense drivability. An ACT R6 race disc friction surface has very good durability but will have shortened spline life compared to the G6. The R6 is intended for use on highly modified track cars where harsher engagement is expected and some clutch chatter is not a problem. The 6-puck layout of the R6 will absorb, and dissipate more heat than a 4-puck unit.
Both the G6 and the R6 are available coupled to the Heavy Duty pressure plate for a 50% increase in clamp load. The HDG6 is the most streetable 6-Puck combination while the XTR6 is the least streetable and only recommended for track applications.
